Five months would pass before Jay was able to talk with Tim again. Along the way, Jay began to be stalked by the hooded man. This would later be further explored upon when upon the upload of Jay meeting again with Tim, the hooded man uploaded a video to the totheark channel where he peers upon Jay from afar. Eventually, he ran into Tim outside of his own doctor's clinic, though. Jay waited outside (like a creep, as Tim actually picked up), and got in touch with him.
Tim would then pass on some Marble Hornets production tapes to Jay as he was still under the guise of wanting to finish Alex's student film. The contents were disturbing, as always.
They started off with Seth, Tim, Brian, Jay, and Alex, all together; but Jay and Seth left, leaving only the trio of Tim, Brian, and Alex, all filming their recording of the soundtrack before the lights go out and the Operator attacks.
Perhaps the most pertinent of them all, though, was the last two; where Tim led Alex out to the building beside the abandoned hospital because Alex was interested in places for shooting. Alex, although interested in the other building, was denied entry by Tim, stating that he'd like to stay over in this building; it was a much better place for shooting. Alex then abruptly knocked Tim out as the Operator appeared.
That night, Tim was only very narrowly able to escape the Operator and Alex's collective clutches. It's also the reason why he was there when Brian showed up with Alex.
Later, Jay brought Tim along to the abandoned hospital to explore it. Tim was hesitant, and reluctant to show him whilst there. However, the hooded man appeared, and Jay gave chase, to Tim's confusion, he not knowing who it was; he had memory loss for every time he wore the mask. The duo lost him, though. Tim grew angered with Jay after this stunt, and said that he would not help Jay any further. However, Jay lost the hooded man after he entered a maintenance tunnel in a side building. Both Jay and Tim refused to go down into it.
A few days later, Tim called Jay to say that they had to meet. Jay stated that he was going to confess about everything before going. When the duo met, Tim was furious, his first action delivering a punch to Jay's face. Tim would then give an emotional rant about how his life was improving after Marble Hornets; "I was doing fine, I was getting better... and then YOU showed up, pointing a camera in my face like it couldn't POSSIBLY have an effect on anyone else." Tim angrily left Jay with that, vowing to never speak to him again.
Jay went down into the maintenance tunnel alone after recovering from the event, and found a folder; however, he heard footsteps above while going to find it. He would then be attacked by the Operator as he crawled quickly through the dark, claustrophobic, dusty tunnel. Jay would escape safe and sound with the folder and its contents, though.
Next, Jay shared with his audience the contents of the folder. They were about Tim; they were about his childhood, actually. They were medical documents pertaining to Tim's past. It would seem that he was in a hospital for some good amount of time because of something that can only be described as psychosis or something close to that.
Afterwards, Jay's account was hacked once again, as the hooded man uploaded more disturbing footage. In the video, he broke into Tim's home at night, stealing his pills from him, sending him into a fit of bizarre behaviour, somewhat like a seizure (as there's no other real way to describe it). After a select amount of time, Tim transitions into being in his masked man state once again, leaving as the hooded man did as well. Jay would say that he knew where to find Tim, and that night, he went out to Rosswood in search of him.
He certainly found him, but not in a good light. The masked man attempted to strangle Jay a multitude of times, eventually catching Jay but not killing him. The hooded man would pick up the camera afterwards, but return it to him for when the two awoke the next morning. Tim, then back in a clear state of mind, reluctantly decided it would be best for them to help each other.
Jay and Tim decided that the best decision would be to revisit Rosswood and check out some of the places that were of importance before they went off to find Jessica, who was still missing. They found the hut at which Alex held them at gunpoint. Jay also got confused at one point, standing in the middle of the woods where they decided they would help each other again; the shack they were in was gone. Tim, however, brushed this off as him recalling the geography inaccurately. Then they found the tunnel. However, in the tunnel, a person called Jay, telling him to leave. He would immediately recognize the caller's voice as Alex's. Jay demanded that they push on, thinking that there was obviously something that he was hiding and they had to see it. Tim, however, disagreed, thinking that safety would be the better option. It would appear that Tim was right, as the Operator would then appear, sending Tim into yet another seizure. Jay tried to drag Tim along, out of the tunnel; but he stopped when Tim simply told him to run. Thus why Jay left him behind.
Tim, however, was teleported through a Hellscape after Jay disappeared; drowning at multiple points, climbing trees, being dragged down a hill, and finding the corpse of the unknown man Alex murdered before he ended up in the parking lot, just outside of his car. Tim got inside, and then Jay got there, knocking on his window, asking if he was alright and how he got there. Tim, seemingly reverted to his masked man state, drove away, leaving Jay behind.
Tim drove out to the abandoned hospital and hallucinated the events and occurrences from all those years ago while he was there, attempting to overdose on his medication, among other things, like trying to remove a message stating that he was a liar from the wall using a pipe, just before passing out.
Later, Tim and Jay regrouped after Tim regained himself, and Tim asked that they go back out to the abandoned hospital later, to Jay's dismay.
The two went, as Tim would then reveal his full history to Jay in a very emotional ramble. He was a patient at the hospital, sent there at an early age of about seven or eight due to his rising paranoia and hallucinations. He stated that he didn't think they were sure what his actual deal was, but they eventually settled on schizophrenia. He also stated that he was thinking that perhaps what he was seeing back then was also what they were all seeing now, saying that he didn't remember what the things actually were. Jay asked what he meant by all of this. Tim replied, asking if this was all his fault. Everyone could have been living a normal life if he didn't come along and infect them with his virus, the Operator. Jay helps him out, consoling him; before they see the hooded man again and give chase. They discover a tape that he had hidden in a room. Jay retrieves it while Tim gives chase, but loses him in a field.
After a long while of cleaning the tape, dirtied by all of the viscera obscuring it from view, Jay finds the footage on it. It is filmed by the hooded man, wandering about the abandoned hospital, stalking Alex, who appears to be searching for Tim or the hooded man himself. Alex is then knocked out by Hoodie when he gets the chance. Alex is tied up to a chair and then beaten by Tim, in his masked man state but without his mask. The hooded man pulls a gun from Alex's jacket pocket and prepares to shoot him between the eyes, but in the nick of time, the Operator stops the duo from killing him. They run, taking his gun, and the tape ends with the hooded man wandering the forest in the dead of night with Alex's handgun.
Later, the hooded man would once again hack Jay's account, uploading the footage that came after the events of the tape. The next day, the hooded man was in his very own separate shack in an unknown location in some forest, sufficing just well. He took off his mask, just drinking water, when Alex abruptly attacked him. Alex pinned him to the wall, asking where Jay and Tim were, as the hooded man only replied with a grin. Then Alex was pushed by him, and he ran. Alex yelled that no matter how much he runs, he will be found. The hooded man replied with edited footage at the end, stating that he will not. Then, footage of Jay dropping down into the maintenance tunnel was played from inside of the tunnel, inferring that the hooded man was in the tunnel, filming him from the darkness as he went in to find anything. The footsteps above Jay were also his.
Jay and Tim would then carefully plot their next move, keeping it a secret. They didn't want Alex to know, considering that he was one of their viewers. They headed out to the town where Marble Hornets, the original film, was shot; specifically, they went out to the woods where the red tower was. While inside of the red tower, Jay panicked, believing that someone was watching them from the outside; however, there was nobody there when Tim looked, nor did the camera pick any figure up. Leaving, Jay tripped in a hole in the ground, revealing more tapes inside. Most of them were burnt, however, some were still in near mint condition, only the cases being burnt.
After a long while of polishing the tapes and what not, Jay and Tim were able to piece together two tapes, both from 2006. The first one was of Alex, driving down a familiar road from the original tapes. He spoke to Amy on his phone whilst driving, saying that he should be able to move out there soon. Alex lies to Amy for an unknown reason, saying that he's home despite the fact that he's driving. Amy states that she can hear noises that sound like driving, but Alex quickly explains that it's interference and he "gets to bed". Alex stopped at a playground as shown in Entry #4, then, wandering about. Then the Operator appeared, and he ran at the figure, and it disappeared. He then collapsed into a coughing fit as the tape ended.
The second tape was of Jay's visit to Alex just before he moved. Things went as normal, before something unexpected happened; the tape betrayed Jay's memory of the events. Alex went outside, following Jay for a moment as he was taking away the tapes to his car. Then, Alex knocked Jay out, and tried to give him to the Operator. The events afterwards are unknown, as the tape cuts out. However, Jay is visibly unnerved by what he has to say at the end about Alex and what other things Alex might have caused him to forget.
Their next move was to visit Alex's old house. They found little there, other than more scratchy papers that Alex made. Jay then panicked once more, in the same fashion as he did at the red tower. The camera once again picked nothing up until later, when he was not paying attention; the camera picked up the Operator, standing outside in broad daylight, as he wasn't looking and the camera was simply sitting in the windowsill as Jay and Tim tried to force open a closet door that wouldn't budge. The two wandered down into the basement after searching the whole house. Tim noticed that something was definitely wrong, though. It was night when they entered the basement, however, dusk was only beginning as they were on the upper floor. The Operator appeared behind them and they escaped through a door in the basement. Jay was left behind as Tim ran for his life, until Tim noticed that Jay was not present. He returned to the house, where he found Jay seizing on the ground, the Operator a few yards away. In a seeming act of spite, Tim approached the Operator, standing up in front of it as it seems to give him immense pain and he almost collapses. However, beforehand, nobody was ever able to accomplish this feat. His medication had been helping him. The Operator disappeared as Tim helped Jay up and the duo escaped with Jay in a near catatonic state from overexposure.
The next video did not originate from either of the duo. Another hacked upload from Hoodie, this time, the hooded man is in his shack and he has a coughing fit. He goes to find his medication, but finds that the containers are almost empty. The hooded man then breaks into Tim's home and finds a container there, and as well checks on a tape hidden there. The hooded man stands in Tim's hallway, but then Alex, who has also broken into Tim's home and has been found to be hiding in his attic, waiting for the two to reappear at the house to kill them, has come down from the attic. The hooded man quickly makes his escape, but Alex seems to know that someone had broken in and left only moments ago.
Tim returned to the motel that he and Jay were staying in to find him wandering around outside. After bringing him inside, Jay seems to sober up, finally snapping out of his catatonia after Tim had shared his medication with him. Jay, however, declines the pills. The two say that they need to go back to the house, but must be wary that Alex may still be inside.
Jay would watch the video, but all he was truly interested in was the tape.
When the two returned, they found nothing different other than that the tape was missing and as well an image of Amy in the attic, with these words written on the back: "I HAVE HIM -- 79 SOUTH CREEK ROAD -- FIND ALEX FIND THE ARK". Later, Jay realized that Tim had the tape in his pocket, and then Jay would tackle Tim, taking the tape from his pocket. Jay angrily asks what it is and why he was hiding it, to a very subtle response. Jay leaves with the tape as Tim tells him not to watch it, as it'll destroy the investigation and his trust. Jay did not listen, however, and left with the tape, coughing.
The tape showed what happened to Jessica that night when she disappeared. The masked and hooded man brought her out into the woods, trying to quiet her as she asked what was going on and why she was there. Alex was out there with them, and he successfully took Jessica from the duo. He led her out to the tunnel, where he intended to kill her, but she took the gun from him before he could, and then the hooded man tackled him, signaling for her to run. She ran, but she unfortunately ran into the Operator as well. The footage cuts to the next morning, Jessica unconscious on the ground. The footage cuts to the Operator again before her body disappears and Tim walks on screen, taking off his mask as the footage ends.
Jay's next move, in a paranoid and aggressive state comparable to Alex, was to interrogate Tim. He went to Tim's home with zip ties and a knife. However, his plot backfired, and he ended up tied up. Tim took his camcorder, saying that this is why he hid the tape. He knew that this would happen, and that was why he took it. He still didn't know where Jessica was. However, now, he was going to go to the address on the back of Amy's image alone, considering that Jay was not in the best state of mind to go along with him; who knows what he would get himself into? Jay yelled for his camcorder as Tim left.
Later that day, the hooded man showed up, giving Jay a knife to free himself and passing on his camcorder to Jay. Jay would then follow in Tim's footsteps.
Jay stalked Tim as Tim maneuvered around the area, which was then found to be called Benedict Hall; it was the college that Alex moved to. The buildings all in very poor shape, Jay would then watch over the area overnight from a perch at a window.
Tim got inside of the main building of Benedict Hall and fled from Alex the next day, who was inside of it as he then ran back to his vehicle, coughing before passing out when he couldn't find his medication. Seeing the opportunity to enter and since Tim was unaware of Jay's presence, Jay entered. This move would prove to be fatal, as Jay would meet Alex and suffer a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Locking himself into a room as he bled against the attempts to force down the door, he looked over to the corner of the small room, the Operator appearing before him and taking him. Jay's life ended then.
Alex eventually broke the door down to find only Jay's bloody handprint against the ground.
At night, Tim reentered to find the bloody handprint, knowing it belonged to Jay. Tim panicked, and left the room with his new camcorder. On the way out, he saw the hooded man peeking around a corner. Believing that Hoodie was the reason that Jay died, he gave chase, audibly on the verge of tears. However, Tim lost him.
After going for a month without his medication, Tim was verging on having a relapse of the masked man state. All the while, however, he'd found something on Jay's computer; a previously unreleased video. It was of Jay, returning to Rosswood after much pondering. Deep inside, he found the tunnel and walked all the way through it. Neither Jay nor Tim had done this yet; however, when he did, the geography of Rosswood Park began to change around him, as well as the Operator appearing. The shack from when the duo decided to help each other again reappeared as Jay made a frantic phone call to Tim, who didn't pick up. He said to Tim that he was sorry for acting so rash, but urged Tim not to hide anything from him anymore, because the only way they'll make progress is if they are completely honest with each other. Jay sounds like he's about to break down as he says he needs to get out, coughing as he hangs up. Eventually, Jay collapses inside of the shack as the Operator appears over him. The footage ends with Jay running. Tim notes that he never got this voice mail. He also notes that whatever happened to Jay's mind during the Operator's return, he went from apologetic to violent in a flash, like Alex, and this is what must've caused the interrogation incident to take place.
Tim returned to Benedict Hall, finding the hooded man. The hooded man offered him a deal wordlessly. If he became the masked man again, he would give Tim his pills back. Tim declined by pushing away the mask before the Operator appeared, prompting both to run. The two are teleported through a multitude of places before Tim eventually finds Jay's corpse upon his home's table. He turns around to see the hooded man, yelling that he'd kill him. Tim chased the hooded man a bit further before eventually they made it back to Benedict Hall. Hoodie hang from a window in an attempt to jump to safety, but it was too late. Tim hit his fingers, prompting him to fall from a height, killing him. Tim rushed down to his level, taking from his hoodie pockets a tape and his pills. Tim sees the Operator in the corner of the room and runs. He then awakens in a field, his camera bordering on broken.
Tim's camera broke as he arrived home. Tim, frantic, put the tape in his player and watched. It was yet another 2006 tape, however, this one was dated before the very filming of Marble Hornets. Brian and Tim auditioned for Alex's movie in this tape. At the end, Alex is filming outside, and he notices distortion on his camera, but not the Operator off in the distance. This tape hit Tim like a bombshell, though. He noticed Brian's clothing; that of a khaki hoodie. Brian, his closest friend during college, was the hooded man.
The next few weeks were silent. Tim stayed at home, waiting for Alex's next move; Alex would come to him next. In anticipation, Tim made the decision to sleep in his car, a block away from his home. One night, Alex showed, and brought with him a canister of gasoline. Alex spoke about how Tim was the source and the reason any of this happened. If he didn't "do the right thing and burn to death", he was tasked with fighting him at Benedict Hall. Tim made away with very few of his belongings as his house burnt to a crisp. Tim vowed to stop Alex, no matter what the cost, though.
Tim returned to Benedict Hall and quickly did the fight begin. Upon hearing gunshots, Tim panicked, and fell through two of the floors (which were badly held together considering the poor state of the building). Standing on his previous level was Alex. He looked down the hallway, to view the Operator. The two were then teleported to the tunnel at night. Tim, with a knife, versus Alex, with a gun. Standing in hiding, Tim prepared his knife as Alex spoke about wanting this to finally be over; all he would have to do is give up. Tim plunged his knife into Alex's shoulder, prompting him to fire off multiple rounds. Alex then dropped his gun, as Tim grabbed it. However, Tim was unable to fire, the gun having jammed. Alex now had his knife. He held Alex's right hand, the one which held the knife, as Alex then began to jab him in the face with his free hand, Tim holding his camcorder in the other, unable to block the attacks. The Operator appeared behind Alex for a moment before both of them disappeared. Tim then tried to convince Alex that fighting it together would be the better option, seeing as how Tim had found a way to block it out. However, Alex declined sharply, instead showing him Brian's hooded corpse, telling him that Tim had killed him and he died slowly because of Tim. He continued, saying that he couldn't believe he let one of his friends down. Tim was teleported to the room in which Jay died then, and when he exited, the Operator appeared, prompting him to take his entire bottle of medication. Tim tried again to convince Alex that killing each other was not the superior option. However, this failed once again, as Alex instead opted for strangling Tim. However, Tim saw a brief window to do what he needed, and Tim jabbed Alex in the throat with his knife, killing him. Alex's last words to Tim demanded that he kill everyone else remaining; he knows how it spreads. Tim left the room after Alex died; Tim vomited blood on the floor afterwards, sobbing maniacally. His camcorder showed that Alex's corpse was gone. Tim collapsed at the foot of the stairs leading down and the footage ends.
A week later, Tim has somewhat recovered; he is still feeling the aftereffects of murdering Alex, but to the point of where he can function normally in front of others. Tim smokes outside of a building, staring onward. Jessica appears, originating from the apartment building behind, revealing that Tim had lied to his entire audience and Jay about not knowing where Jessica was. Tim asks if the medication is prompting side effects that he brought up, possibly inferring that she was suffering from the same things he did as a child. She asks why he has a camcorder, to which he replies Jay gave it to him. She states that she's sad that she never got to meet Jay, because the appointment schedules didn't match up. He also warns her that he would be moving away as he begins to cough very abruptly and harshly. He doubles over, Jessica asking if she needs to call someone. The footage then cuts to Tim driving, as sirens go past in the background, possibly inferring that Tim took Alex's advice and murdered Jessica, but was unwilling to commit suicide. Tim turns around his camera as he reaches an intersection and the footage cuts before he makes any turns. Tim notes that everything is fine as the final video, Entry #87, ends.
